Overview

The  training  Lead  Coach  is  responsible  for  the  overall  implementation  of  the  Epic  end-user  training  program   as   well  as  ongoing  education  and  maintenance  of  the  training  program  after golive.  He/she  is  responsible  for   determining  required  training  resources,  directing  and  managing  training  team  staffing,  and  securing  facilities   and  equipment  for  classroom  training.  In addition,  the  training  manager  decides  curriculum  delivery  methods,   oversees  the  creation  and  maintenance  of  a  realistic  training  environment,  creates  a  course  catalog  and  training   schedule,  and  ensures  all  users  are  trained  before  they  access  the  production  environment.  Prefer local candidates. 

Responsibilities

Administration  and  planning:

  • Maintaining  the  Learning  Management  System  (LMS) 
  • Communicating  with  project  leadership  about  training  milestones,  policies,  and  decisions    
  • Designing  the  course  offerings  and  course  catalog  in  the  LMS     
  • Securing  training  rooms,  workstations,  printers,  projectors  and  screens,  barcode  scanners,  and  other   equipment  needed  for  classroom  training    
  • Creating  an  efficient  schedule  for  classroom  training   

 

Managing  the  Epic  training  environment:  

  • Recruiting,  staffing,  and  hiring  principal  trainers,  credentialed  trainers,  specialty  champions,  specialty   physicians,  and  any  other  supplemental  training  staff      
  • Developing  and  executing  the  credentialed  trainer  program  to  onboard  classroom  trainers     
  • Managing  principal  trainers  and  training  team  tasks    
  • Managing  the  specialty  physician  training  program      
  • Assessing  risks  and  issues  associated  with  the  training  program     
  • Developing  and  executing  the  ongoing  program  to  onboard  ATE  resources  

 

Developing  training  programs:  

  • Determining  the  types  of  curriculum  delivery  methods  (such  as  instructor  led  classes,  e-­learning,  and   blended  learning)  that  will  be  used  during  super  user  training  and  end  user training   
  • Setting  training  requirements  for  end-­user  system  access  and  getting  buy-­in  on  this  decision  from  project   and  operational  leadership     
  • Developing  a  post-­live training  program  for  new  hires,  refresher  training,  optimization,  upgrade  training,   etc. 

 

Acting  as  a  change  management  and  transition  champion:  

 

  • Creating  and  executing  an  overall  vision  for  the  training  program,  including  requesting  support  from   project  leadership     
  • Outlining  and  forming  additional  educational  plans  as  desired  by  the Client      
  • Generating strong  super  user  engagement  during  and  after  go-­live  
  • Transitioning  from  implementation  to  maintaining  training  after  golive    

Team  training  management  and  leadership:  

  • Planning  and  executing  a  successful  training  program  after  the  Epic  system  go-­live      
  • Creating  a  series  of  refresher  training  classes  immediately  following  go-­live  to  explain problematic  topics   to  end-­users     
  • Overseeing  skills  enhancement  training  to  deliver  more  complicated  and  sophisticated  curriculum  to   end-­users     
  • Collaborating  to  develop Epic-­specific  training  for  new  employees  of the  organization      
  • Planning  how  to  deliver  new  information  about  workflows  and  functionality  to  end  users  before   upgrades  

Qualifications

Key  competencies:

  • Epic  experience  in  training  capacity     
  • Knowledge  of  a  LMS      
  • Capacity  to  manage  multiple  competing  objectives  and  to  communicate  results  in  clear  and  unambiguous   terms     
  • Ability  to  lead  others  and  to  communicate  the  importance  of  training  to  all  stakeholders  in  the  project      
  • Experience  with  project  management,  adult  education,  and  curriculum  delivery     
  • Strong  organizational  and  coordination  skills      
  • Ability  to  develop  and  adhere  to  time  schedules  in  order  to  meet  project  deadlines  and  to  sequence   activities  logically  in  a  calm  and  rational  manner     
  • Interpersonal  skills  at  a  level  to  function  well  in  a  wide  range  of  administrative,  management,  and  patient   care  environments      
  • Ability  to  work  effectively  with  a  wide  range  of  very  senior  to  very  junior  people  under  training  project   and  ad  hoc  conditions  Experience  with  process  reengineering  is  strongly desired     
  • Existing  knowledge  of organizational  culture,  personnel,  and  processes  is  strongly  desired      
  • Knowledge  of  and  the  ability  to  use  PC-­based  word  processing,  spreadsheet,  and  presentation  software  to   create  teaching  and  learning  materials  and  documentation     
  • Excellent  knowledge  of  English  grammar  and  spelling  for  use  in  both  verbal  and  written  communication      
  • Recommended,  not  required:  Clinical  or  operational  experience
