  • Overview

    The Epic Principal trainer will specialize in one or more applications and take the lead in the development and implementation of the training program for their respective application(s). This individual is responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the training environment, as well as developing and maintaining training materials. This position reports to the Training Manager, and works closely with Application project managers to achieve the goal of building and maintaining training environments. 


    • Participate in workflow design and system build in order to gain and maintain in-depth knowledge of why workflows have been designed as they have, and the important system functionality supporting those workflows. 
    • Train and provide support to Physicians, Nurses, Ancillary Staff and other personnel on the use of the specific Epic application. 
    • Develop and maintain high quality training materials including the curriculum, user guides, lesson plans, and presentations. 
    • Train additional Trainers within the organization, maintain policy/procedure documentation, provide training for new hires, and coordinate training for new software releases and updates. 
    • Work closely with Epic, and application analysts (application specific) to build test and maintain the training environment. 
    • Update Epic Computer Based Training modules using an eLearning authoring tool. 
    • Solicit trainee feedback and appropriately adapt training. 
    • Work with the Training Coordinator to analyze resource availability (Trainers, rooms, workstations, etc.). 
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 


    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Current Grand Central Principal Trainer Certification (NVT current) and certified in MST build
    • Four-year college degree. 
    • Responsible for training end users as well as other Trainers. 
    • Demonstrate detailed understanding of workflows and system configuration. 
    • Demonstrate strong people skills 
    • Demonstrate strong organizational skills. 
    • Responsible for coordinating the training effort for the application. 
    • Proven ability to write well. 
    • Responsible for maintaining training documentation. 
    • Must demonstrate skill in adult education. 


    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Four or more years of experience designing and delivering software training curriculum for large healthcare systems is preferred. 
    • Preference for those who have a medical background
